My friend Nikki in Prague last summer, modeling
her Love tattoo on the inside of her mouth. Creative, eh?
You never ever would have known it was there...
I have a tattoo. It's on the back of my right ankle. And, I love it. As much as my family hates it, I really, really love it. It's a simple reminder of a really special experience I had traveling abroad in Costa Rica several years ago and I couldn't be happier with it. I recall struggling with the idea of getting one. It's so absolute; I'll have this thing inked on the back of my ankle for the rest of my life. Although I took plenty of time decide (over a year!) before I made the decision, I still panicked. There I sat in the Mission Beach Tattoo Salon, a very clean, but rustic, space facing the water at Belmont Park. My artist was sweet and silly. My girlfriends who were there were pleasant and supportive. Overall, the experience was quite memorable!
I know I wanted something that would mean something, something that would speak volumes without a lot of mumbo jumbo. I wanted something that would define me. Two years later, it still does. 50 years from now, it still will.
Ahhhh, are you just dyinggg to know what it is?? I'll share the story behind my tattoo next week!
So what's the verdict? Can tattoos be classy and special, be something that will help describe you in a way others things may not?
