I have the opinion that hand holding is a very intimate, yet very public, way to show your affection. I always feel intimidated to jump right into a "hand-holding situation," as I like to call it. If a fella goes for my hand, I'm always a little weary... And I think the hand-holding style says something, too. Do you weave your fingers or clasp your hands with your beau or gal? Is one less intimate than the other? Is there another way to show your love without being so intimate? How long should you be dating before hand-holding is considered appropriate? Gosh! So many questions! As I was walking around downtown today, I noticed so many lovely couples holding hands. There was so much variety to their hand-holding. Several couples were clasping a few fingers, as if they were slightly more comfortable with each other. Whatever the case, I think hand-holding is a milestone in a relationship. It's a sweet and innocent way to show somebody you care while exchanging mini-messages back and forth. (A squeeze of the fingers paired with a small smirk or wink of an eye speaks volumes.) Today, witnessing the diversity of hand-holding has given me a bit more insight.
Physical touch is my lowest love language but I do love it when my hubby reaches over and holds my hand in public. It's like he's proud that I'm his and he wants everyone to know it. :)
